About Us

Silas Willard is a PBIS School-Positive Behaviors Interventions and Supports.

We are the Positively Awesome Wildcats or PAWS School for short. As such we focus upon three main “PAWS Rules.”

Be Respectfultreat others the way we would like to be treated

Be Responsiblepay attention in class, make wise choices, and when we make mistakes, admit that we made a mistake, and try not to make the same mistake again.

Be There and Be ReadyCome to school on time ready to do our best every day.

At the beginning of the year, staff put on skits which help teach and remind students of our PAWS rules.  Throughout the year, students are rewarded with PAWS stickers highlighting these three rules and enter drawings to win many prizes from our weekly PAWS drawings.  We have Respectful Restaurant during the year—a chance to be rewarded as we highlight respect—eating lunch with Mr. Shelly on the stage.  We have other “Booster Activities” which highlight these main PAWS rules when many students are rewarded with large-group/school-wide fun activities—which this year included extra recess, popsicles, beach ball fun, sidewalk chalk, and staff-student games.  In this way, students are reminded of our expected behaviors throughout the year.

Silas Willard is a Flexible Delivery School

"Flex" it is now referred to as RTI-Response to Interventions school.  Our special team of classroom teachers, including support from our Knox-Warren Special Education department— Special  Education Teachers, Social worker and Psychologist meet monthly to discuss students who may be having academic and/or behavioral problems.  This team brainstorms a variety of interventions we may use to help address these problems.  Hopefully, these interventions will result in positive improvements.  Should interventions not be successful, this team helps plan alternate programming to address these problems.

Silas Willard School Pledge

I pledge to do my best, every single day

Listening, learning, being fair-when I work and play

Keeping hands and feet to myself, as well as treating others with respect.

I'll listen when my teacher speaks and follow every rule.

I pledge I'll be a good citizen- in my classroom and my school.

Always BE RESPONSIBLE, BE RESPECTFUL and BE READY

Because that's the Wildcat way!
